Brook – The Accidental Therapy Dog

Here is my dog, Brook. She normally goes to work with her Dad, but during the summer it was too hot, so she started coming to work with me instead.

It turns out that she is a real hit with my counselling clients, and some are actually disappointed now if she isn’t there!

What I think Brook brings to the counselling room is a calming presence. Animals can help us to feel calmer and more settled, and spending time with a friendly dog can be comforting when we’re feeling anxious or overwhelmed.

Despite being a spaniel, Brook is actually very relaxed! She regularly acts as emotional support for my daughter too, so perhaps she has naturally found her calling.

Bringing Brook to work has definitely added another dimension to my counselling practice. Of course, I always check with clients first before introducing her, so whether or not Brook joins us is entirely your choice.

If you feel you could benefit from counselling in Hampshire, I currently have a few vacancies on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I support clients from towns and villages throughout Hampshire and Wiltshire, including Winchester, Andover, Romsey and Salisbury.
